A Kansas game warden is being heralded as a sharpshooter for his role in freeing a pair of well-antlered bucks entangled in a fight. The Associated Press and KMAN 1350 say the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism got word on January 7th from a bowhunter who came across the animals engaged in a mating spar.
Prior to the call, the bowhunter had tossed a cloth over the heads of the struggling animals to calm and immobilize them. Once on the scene, the Jackson County officer carefully lined up his sight and fired a shot at one of the antlers in an effort to break one off.
The plan worked, and the deer dashed off in opposite directions unhurt. The officer’s body camera was rolling and captured the video below.
