The Polar Plunge is back and we encourage you to join in the fun! Even if you’re not plunging this year you’re invited to cheer on those that do…

While Special Olympics and our courageous athletes have been sidelined for the last 11 months due to COVID-19, we are getting nearer and nearer to being able to gather and compete again soon! In order to provide free-of-charge sports, leadership and relationship-building opportunities for the nearly 100 athletes in our community, the Special Olympics are setting the fundraising goal to $13,000 for this year’s annual Polar Plunge fundraiser and we’re jumping in (literally) with them to help!

This year’s Polar Plunge will take place on Saturday, April 10 in the Bill Snyder Family Stadium West Lot, using an above ground pool filled by the Manhattan Fire Department. You can join the event on our Facebook page so you’ll get updates and reminders! You can also help sponsor our team by going here.

There are a number of ways that you can jump in with us to support:

• Plunge: You or your employees can plunge individually or as a team. It just takes nerves of steel and a minimum of $75 per plunger in pledges . All plungers receive a commemorative shirt. For extra fun, enter the costume contest! This year’s theme is #FrozenInTime. Choose your favorite decade, and dress accordingly!
• Too “chicken” to make the splash? Register as a chicken or virtual plunger, raise the $75, and you will still receive the commemorative shirt!

Please know that despite the county’s loosened COVID restrictions, they still plan to hold the event safely, with masks and social distancing required. Depending on the number of registrants, plungers will receive a ‘wave’ time to ensure all plungers are not at the event at the same time.
