Riley County has certified the results of the recent presidential preference primary.

The commission, acting as the Board of County Canvassers on Monday, unanimously approved the provisional ballots and certified the election results. A total of 2,624 Riley County residents (about 7%) took part in the primary, the state’s first since 1992.

During the meeting, elections officials read results for each precinct, as well as the totals for each voting method. All told 2,179 ballots were cast using the DS300 voting machines, 392 were advance mail-in ballots. and 38 were provisional. Of the 38 provisional, staff said 19 were counted and 19 were not counted either because the person was voting for the wrong party or because the person was not registered.

The county also received 10 federal service ballots and five hand-counted ballots.

According to the Associated Press, Trump received a total of 70,812 votes in the State of Kansas. Biden received a total of 35,117 votes.
