Greg Sharpe, the voice of the Nebraska Huskers, announced on his radio show Monday that he has been diagnosed with cancer.

The exact diagnosis wasn’t specified, but he said it involved the “pancreatic region of the body.”

Sharpe has been the voice of Nebraska football and baseball since 2008. Before joining the Huskers, Sharpe worked for Kansas State from 1996-2002 as the voice of Wildcat football and basketball. As Sharpe’s play-by-play can be heard during some of the greatest seasons in K-State football history.

After breaking the news, Sharpe has one goal in mind…

“I want to get this thing, whup its butt and get myself ready for football because I think we are going to have a fabulous, fabulous football season around here in the fall,” Sharpe said.
