The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. – 

Officers filed a report for aggravated assault in Manhattan on April 29, 2021, at approximately 12:35 p.m. Officers listed a 34-year-old female as the victim when it was reported a 40-year-old male suspect threatened her with a knife.

Officers filed a report for aggravated arson in the 2100 block of Poyntz Ave. in Manhattan on April 29, 2021, at approximately 2:44 p.m. Officers listed Manhattan High West USD 383 and a 49-year-old male as the victim when it was reported a 17-year-old male suspect lit a trash can on fire in an occupied building. No injuries were reported. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $50.00. Ryan Joshua Tierney, 17, of Manhattan was arrested in connection on the offense of aggravated arson and transported to the Geary County Juvenile Detention Center.

Officers filed a report for aggravated battery near the intersection of Allen Rd. and Casement Rd. in Manhattan on April 29, 2021, at approximately 2:47 p.m. Officers listed a 20-year-old female as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect shot her with a BB gun. No injuries were reported. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.
