All students at Ogden Elementary will eat for free next year after meeting the threshold to qualify for a Community Eligibility Program grant through the National School Lunch Act.

The program determines eligibility from the amount of students on free or reduced lunch, including foster students, migrant students, homeless students or part of the state’s Medicaid free pilot program, according to Smith. USD 383 had five schools qualify, but Smith says only Ogden met the threshold to make it cost effective for the reimbursement process.

The board unanimously supported the grant funded program. In addition, meal prices district wide were also approved, staying unchanged for child meals, with adult breakfast and lunch prices increasing to meet the USDA recommended price.
