ST. Joseph, Mo. — After the No. 13 Kansas State women beat Middle Tennessee State 74-48 after a second-half blitz by the Wildcats on Saturday, Middle Tennessee head coach Rick Insell, a women’s basketball hall-of-famer, said he thinks K-State is one of the top squads in the country and that the Wildcats have a chance to go far in the NCAA Tournament.
“I’ve said this all along, and I’ve been doing this for 50 years: It’s not necessarily the best team that wins the national championship,” Insell said. “It’s the team that’s playing the best in that period of time.
