A Leavenworth County prison inmate has been convicted of voluntary manslaughter.

30-year-old Richey Ray Farmer was convicted for his role in the death of fellow inmate Scott Wilson back in Aug. 2021. According to a press release from the Leavenworth County Attorney’s Office, Farmer hit Wilson with a plastic food tray as well as used his feet to kill Wilson. Farmer later claimed in court he used the tray as self defense.

Leavenworth County attorney Todd Thompson said that the county attorney’s office appreciated the legal process that allows for jury to determine guilt or innocence.
