LAMB OF GOD bassist John Campbell will miss the next couple of shows on the band’s “The Metal Tour Of The Year” in order to “take care a family matter back home.” He will be temporarily replaced by former MACHINE HEAD and current VIO-LENCE guitarist Phil Demmel, who previously stepped in for LAMB OF GOD guitarist Willie Adler during LOG‘s January appearance on the ShipRocked cruise.

Demmel already played his first show as the bassist for LAMB OF GOD Friday night (April 22) at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Fronting LAMB OF GOD at the same gig was Joe Badolato, vocalist for New Jersey deathcore outfit FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY. Badolato was filling in for LAMB OF GOD‘s regular singer Randy Blythe, who was taking a few days off from the road after testing positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus

Earlier today, LAMB OF GOD shared a few photos of last night’s concert and included the following message: “Thank you to our brother Joe Badolato (@joebad) for helping make Green Bay a special night.

“Sioux Falls – Randy will be in Sioux Falls and return to the stage tomorrow night!

“Additionally, John Campbell had to take care a family matter back home and will be away for a few days. We had time to plan for this so @PhilDemmel has graciously joined us and will fill in on bass. We support each other as family and look forward to John‘s quick return.”

Blythe previously missed the band’s concert in Grand Rapids, Michigan four days ago. At that show, LAMB OF GOD used three stand-in singers: Mark Hunter of CHIMAIRA, as well as TRIVIUM‘s Matt Heafy and IN FLAMESAnders Fridén. LAMB OF GOD then canceled its concert Thursday night (April 21) at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana when Hunter himself fell ill.

When the Fort Wayne cancelation was announced, Hunter clarified in a tweet that he didn’t “blow his voice” singing for LAMB OF GOD in Grand Rapids but was actually forced to spend all day in the ER after “a genetic condition flared at the worst time.”

LAMB OF GOD kicked off the 2022 leg of “The Metal Tour Of The Year” with MEGADETH, TRIVIUM and IN FLAMES on April 9 at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

LAMB OF GOD is continuing to tour in support of its latest, self-titled album, which was released in June 2020 via Epic Records in the U.S. and Nuclear Blast Records in Europe.
