Manhattan, KS – Jerome Tang and K-State men’s basketball found out Sunday that they are not going to the NCAA Tournament. After just missing out on the Big Dance, the ‘Cats have decided to accept a bid to be one of 32 teams in the 2024 National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
Two days after getting the NIT news, K-State will play in the first round Tuesday night at Iowa. Tip-time has been set for 8:00 p.m. The Hawkeyes will enter the game with a record of 18-14. After receiving a bye in the Big Ten tournament, Iowa lost to 10-seed Ohio State 90-78. K-State enters the tournament at 19-13 on the season, 8-10 in Big 12 play. The winner will play the winner of UC Irvine or Utah on either March 23 or 24.
This will be K-State’s 7th appearance all-time in the NIT and first since 2009. K-State senior Tylor Perry won the NIT last year with North Texas.
