The Greater Manhattan Community Foundation celebrated 25 years of serving the community on Monday night’s award banquet.

There were 25 total award winners for the night, a nod to the 25th anniversary of GMCF.

C. Clyde Jones was one of five “Influence Award Winners,” for his role in the creation of the Grow Green Match Day organization. Jones said…

“I put together five social service agencies and brought them to a meeting; told them what could happen with their growth of equity. Then the program became a foundation and has been tremendously successful.”

Executive director for the Manhattan emergency shelter Emily Wagner congratulated the influence winners at Monday’s event.

“GMCF has been instrumental in connecting our agencies with donors who support our mission and provide stable housing to the area’s homeless. The GFCF Grow Green Match Day has allowed us to grow our reserves in a way that ensures that we will be here for a long time for our community. ”

Local community members also celebrated the life of Phil Howe. He passed away Sunday, just a day before the 25th anniversary celebration of the GMCF, of which he was an integral part.

Outgoing foundation board chair Kim McAtee spoke about Howe’s contributions, saying

“Phil was generous, but more importantly he was a great leader. He wasn’t afraid to try new things, and he always made you feel heard. He motivated us to all do our very best. While we will miss him greatly, we know that he has been made whole again and is looking down on us tonight with that beautiful smile. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they grieve and celebrate Phil’s wonderful life.”
