The stuffed animal dressed in a purple jersey disappeared from the team hotel in Provo, Utah, Saturday before the Wildcats’ game at BYU. According to senior guard Serena Sundell, the last person to see Gap Goat, affectionately known as Gappy, was a team manager.
“They swear he was put in the conference room, and when they came back, he was gone,” Sundell said. “We don’t know if he’s lost or if he’s kidnapped or what.”
Before vanishing, Gap Goat sat with team managers behind the K-State (17-1, 5-0 Big 12) bench during games, and they lifted him up in celebration whenever the squad made three defensive stops in a row, which they call gaps.
