WAMEGO, May 21 — Caterpillar Inc., notified its workforce at the Wamego facility today that Solar Turbines, a Caterpillar subsidiary, will take ownership of the facility, according to a company spokesperson. Solar Turbines will continue manufacturing operations in Wamego and use the existing workforce.
Caterpillar had announced in June, 2024, it was closing the Wamego plant sometime mid-summer of 2025. The facility had been listed for sale for $11.5 million.
According it’s website, Solar Turbines is “A global leader in providing energy solutions that help businesses, governments and public institutions find the perfect balance between affordable, available, and reduced carbon energy.”
