Making just their fourth appearance in the Dodge City Tournament of Champions title game, the Manhattan High boys basketball team Saturday fell to the top ranked team in 6A, Wichita Heights, 65-44.
The Falcons blitzed the Indians with an 18-0 run that bridged the end of the first quarter and the start of the second to build to a 20 point halftime lead. Manhattan would close the gap in the second half to 14 but could no closer.
Jason Kim and Landon Knopp were named to the All-Tournament Team for their performances over the three days, as Manhattan went 2-1. Knopp scored 17 in the finals, Kim added 10 points as the Indians fell to 8-3.
Wichita Heights’ T.J. Williams was named the MVP as one of three Falcons players named to the All-Tournament squad.
Manhattan resumes Centennial League play Tuesday night at Emporia, with coverage on Newsradio KMAN.
