The 4-seed Rock Creek Mustangs punched their ticket to state Wednesday as they claimed another 4A regional championship. In the semifinals, Rock Creek defeated Ottawa by a 5-1 final. Later in the day, in a back-and-forth game, the Mustangs defeated Labette County 8-6. The two wins reach a special milestone for the Rock Creek seniors as they will play in the state tournament for the fourth time. Rock Creek is now 19-5 on the season. They will be joining Wamego at the 4A state tournament beginning next Thursday in Salina.

In the 6A regional at Lawrence Free State, the Manhattan Indians fall one win short from a return trip to state. The 7-seed Indians had no issue getting through the semifinals as they beat Wichita North 12-0. MHS put up a fight in the title game, but fell short to Lawrence Free State 4-2. Manhattan ends its season with a record of 14-10.
