WHAT…For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations up to two inches, sleet accumulations around one quarter of an inch, and ice accumulations up to two tenths of an inch. For the Blizzard Warning, blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations between 6 and 14 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
WHERE…Portions of central, east central, north central, and northeast Kansas.
WHEN…For the Winter Storm Warning, until 3 AM CST Sunday. For the Blizzard Warning, from 3 AM Sunday to midnight CST Sunday Night.
IMPACTS…Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Travel could be nearly impossible. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Roads will become slick and hazardous and potentially impassible.

Very cold temperatures settle in late in the weekend as the winter storm exits the region and into early next week with readings forecast to remain below freezing through Friday. The coldest wind chill values are expected to occur on Monday through Wednesday.
This weekend’s winter storm is expected to begin impacting the region this morning and lasting into Sunday night. The peak intensity with the heaviest precipitation is anticipated to be during the early morning hours Sunday and into Sunday afternoon. The bars show a rough time line of the forecast precipitation type for selected cities across the area.
