Manhattan, KS – K-State head volleyball coach Jason Mansfield announced the addition of middle blocker transfers Meg Brown and Jordyn Williams to the 2024 roster Wednesday afternoon.

Brown, a 6-foot-3 product of Santa Ana, Calif., comes to K-State after four seasons at Pepperdine where she garnered All-West Coast Conference accolades each year including three first team nods. The 2020 WCC Freshman of the Year also earned a spot on the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team last summer.

“We are so excited to welcome Meg to our Wildcat family,” stated Mansfield. “Meg brings incredible experience to our program from her time at Pepperdine, competing against some of the best teams in the country while making the NCAA tournament multiple times. Her character, athleticism, skill, and leadership are all elite and will make an immediate impact for us at K-State.”

During her time with the Waves, Brown amassed 930 kills while hitting .339 to go with 334 total blocks and 81 service aces, as she helped Pepperdine to four straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

Brown produced a career-high 312 kills (2.82/set) in her junior campaign on a team-best .365 hitting percentage. She also was good for 0.92 blocks, 0.29 aces and 0.86 digs per set for the squad, leading the team with 399.0 points in total.

“I am very excited about my commitment and the future of K-State volleyball,” Brown commented. “With only one year of eligibility left, I was looking for a place where I could continue to be challenged on and off the court, as well as an environment that has a high emphasis on relationships and culture.”

“The moment I stepped on campus, I immediately felt the impact that coach Mansfield and the coaching staff has made on the program in one year, as well as the commitment the team has to strive for success in the future. I am grateful to be a part of the K-State volleyball family and look forward to being in Manhattan this fall,” said Brown.

Prior to her time at Pepperdine, Brown played in 355 total sets for Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, helping her team to CIF Championship titles in 2017 and 2018. She collected 822 kills for a .385 hitting percentage and totaled 252 blocks, including 43 solo stops. As a senior, Brown picked up Under Armour Third Team All-American honors and received First Team All-State and All-CIF recognition.

A native of Lantana, Texas, Williams makes her way to Manhattan following two seasons at Kentucky where she competed in 46 sets over 17 matches.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jordyn to K-State Volleyball,” Mansfield said. “She is an incredible athlete who is very skilled and fiercely competitive, she will fit in extremely well with the culture we are creating here.”

“Jordyn has battled through injuries early in her career at Kentucky and it has shaped her character, drive, and love for the game. We are so excited to help Jordyn continue to grow her game as an athlete and continue to build upon her strong character,” said Mansfield.

In 2023, the 6-foot-2 middle blocker turned in a career-high nine kills at a .500 clip in a four-set victory over Missouri on October 6. She followed that performance two days later with a career-high six blocks against Ole Miss to go with six kills.

Williams produced 62 kills (1.59 per set) during her redshirt sophomore campaign for a .331 hitting efficiency which was good for fourth on the team, while her average of one block per set led the team.

“I walk through faith, and I know without God none of this would be possible,” said Williams. “I’m also very thankful for my family and friends for all the support through this process. I’m very blessed to be given another opportunity and excited for my future with K-State volleyball.”

Prior to her time at UK, Williams attended John H. Guyer High School in Denton, Texas. She collected Under Armour First Team All-American recognition in 2020 and was a member of two national championship teams with her club organization, Texas Advantage Volleyball.

Brown and Williams will join opposite Tatum Tindall, setter Emerson Van Lannen and libero Alyss Kelly as part of the Cats 2024 class.

K-State ended the 2023 season 16-11 under first-year head coach Jason Mansfield, including 10-8 in Big 12 play which tied sixth in the league standings and a program record five Top 25 victories.
