Two were injured after a semitruck overturned due to high winds in Wabaunsee County early Wednesday morning. The Kansas Highway Patrol were the first to respond to the accident.
The crash was reported just after 3:15 am on eastbound I-70 about a mile east of Keene-Eskridge Road, which is about 12 miles west of Topeka. Reports say that a semitrailer was headed east on I-70 when it overturned due to the high winds.
The semi came to a rest partially in the south ditch and partially in the right lane of the highway.
The driver of the semitruck, 23-year-old Keegan Schiefelbein (Shife-el-bine) of Wichita, was transported to Stormont Vail for suspected minor injuries. The passenger 22-year-old Donnavan was also transported to Stormont Vail for suspected minor injuries. Both men were reported to have worn their seat belts at the time of the accident.
