
Two people were transported to the hospital Tuesday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Manhattan, according to the Riley County Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 11:23 a.m. March 10 to the 400 block of East Highway 24 for a reported injury accident. Upon arrival, officers determined that a 2023 Hyundai Tucson driven by Dennis Ortbals, 74, of Manhattan, had collided with a 2024 Nissan Sentra driven by Aubrey Heier-Gonzalez, 17, of Manhattan.
Marilyn Ortbals, 72, of Manhattan, was listed as a passenger in the Hyundai Tucson. Both Dennis and Ortbals were transported by Pottawatomie County EMS to Via Christi Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Dennis Ortbals was issued a citation for failure to yield at a stop sign.
