Megan Steele, the newly elected Republican representative for Kansas’ 51st House District, will take office next week with a focus on balancing her conservative principles with a willingness to collaborate across ideological divides.
Steele on Monday will replace fellow GOP Rep. Kenny Titus, who successfully ran for the State Senate, leaving the 51st District seat open. Known for her strong conservative stance on social issues, Steele said she’ll represent her district’s values while emphasizing the importance of open dialogue in the legislative process.
“Sitting down and listening is something I intend to do,” she said on “Within Reason” with Mike Matson on 1350 KMAN. “I’ve said that a lot, but that’s really who I am. And when it comes down to it, that’s what the people of District 51 elected. There’s nothing wrong with having a conversation. You can completely disagree with somebody, and that’s fine, but you need to be able to sit down at a table and have a conversation.”
