A Republican won the District 22 state Senate seat for the first time since 2008.

Former USD 378 superintendent Brad Starnes unseated Usha Reddi, a two-time Manhattan mayor and a state senator since 2023, with 51.1% of the vote.

“It’s going to take all of us to continue to push forward,” Starnes told his supporters at a watch party Tuesday night. “So praise God, praise him and all of you for your support.”
