One person was killed and two others were injured Thursday in a two-vehicle crash on K-156 in Ellsworth County that left one vehicle engulfed in flames.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. near the Barton/Ellsworth county line. A 2009 Chevrolet Impala was traveling westbound when it left the roadway, crossed the median and entered the eastbound lanes, where it struck a 2019 Dodge Ram. The Impala came to rest in the westbound lane, while the second vehicle overturned, came to rest on the eastbound shoulder and became engulfed in flames.

The driver of the Impala, 72-year-old Debra Stovall died in the crash.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, 21-year-old Colton Madden of Saint George, was taken to the Clara Barton Medical Center with suspected serious injury.
