When this weekend’s historic winter storm rolled through, roads became slick, and businesses all around Manhattan closed. But at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community, the work of caring for senior citizens couldn’t stop.
Annie Peace, Meadowlark’s direct of health services, said the team went above and beyond to take care of its residents and staff needs.
“There’s lots of amazing caregivers who did things,” said Annie Peace, the director of health services at Meadowlark. “Incredible things happened.”
Maintenance crews worked round the clock to clear the roads on the 50-acre campus, and some staff members slept at the facility overnight, either because they lived out of town or to cover the shifts of coworkers unable to make it to work. Maintenance and housekeeping teams set up cots in open Meadowlark apartments to house staff who stuck around.
