USD 475 Board of Education announced on Friday that they have approved the hiring of Kimbre Smice as the new principal at Fort Riley Elementary.

Smice is set to take over for longtime principal Kenny Upham who was recently named the academy principal of Business, Public Service and Hospitality Academy at Junction City High School.

Smice has been in the district since 2011, working at Fort Riley Middle School and Seitz Elementary. She has previously worked at Fort Riley Elementary and is currently at Ware Elementary.

She graduated from Illinois State in 2011 and received her masters from K-State in 2019.
