Kansas State men’s basketball opened Year 4 of the Jerome Tang era with a resounding 93-64 win over UNC Greensboro on Tuesday night, aided by a lopsided second half in which the Wildcats outscored UNCG by 30 points.
The Wildcats (1-0) drilled 11 of 17 3-pointers in the second half, guiding the way to a 59.5% mark from the field — lower than the 64.7% figure from beyond the arc. It was the kind of explosive half Tang believes this group is capable of sustaining.
“Just so proud of the guys,” Tang said. “They were a little tight early… we had some turnovers and did some things we hadn’t necessarily shown for a long time. Then they settled down.
“At halftime, the staff made great adjustments, and the guys responded and relaxed. And then we made shots — and when you make shots, man, it solves all kinds of problems.”
