Riley County Fire District #1 has deployed a task force of volunteer firefighters and apparatus to assist with ongoing wildfire operations in southwest Kansas.
In response to a request from the Kansas fire marshal, the department announced Friday it is sending five fire apparatus staffed by 11 volunteer firefighters to support communities impacted by the fires.
Crews will assist with wildfire suppression, structure protection and other emergency operations as needed.
