The Kansas Department of Transporation will begin emergency repairs to the 56th Avenue bridge over K-18 Monday, weather permitting, which will result in some traffic adjustments.
The project will repair damages previously made to the underside of the bridge as a result of a motor vehicle crash. KDOT says during the initial phase, which is anticipated to finish in late December, the 56th Avenue bridge and westbound lanes of K-18 under the bridge will be closed to traffic to repair or replace damaged girders. Westbound traffic will be detoured to the off-ramp and back onto K-18 via the on-ramp, with reduced speeds noted. Eastbound traffic won’t be impacted.
Manhattan Regional Airport traffic coming from the west can access the airport using the K-114 exit and Skyway Drive. Traffic from the east can use the Scenic Drive exit and Skyway Drive.
The overall project is expected to be completed by late January.
