The Riley County Police Department is looking to add new technology within local communities in an effort to reduce crime.

Since Director Brian Peete took charge last year, the violent crime was down just over 11% from the five year average.

Captain Erin Friedline added that cameras would help lower that number even more.

The measure was approved in December and will cost $43,400 annually.
