The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. –

Officers filed a report for theft in the 1700 block of Fair Ln in Manhattan on September 24, 2020, at approximately 6:53 am. Officers listed a 35-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect took his Doolittle 10×6 trailer. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $3,300.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Officers filed a report for burglary in the 300 block of Fort Riley Blvd in Manhattan on September 24, 2020, at approximately 7:59 am. Officers listed Golf USA as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect took miscellaneous drivers, fairways, and hybrid gold clubs. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $44,000.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Officers filed a report for criminal damage to property in the 400 block of Clydesdale Dr in Ogden on September 24, 2020, at approximately 4:12 pm. Officers listed Opportunities Unlimited as the victim and a 12-year-old male as the suspect when it was reported he damaged sheetrock and a DVD. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $500.00.

Officers filed a report for criminal trespass, attempted aggravated arson, and aggravated domestic assault in Manhattan on September 24, 2020, at approximately 8:04 pm. Officers listed a 25-year-old male and a 22-year-old female as the victims when it was reported a 37-year-old male went on their property without permission and attempted to start a fire. Jason Melton, 37, of Manhattan was arrested in connection on the offenses of attempted aggravated arson, criminal trespass, and aggravated domestic assault. Melton was issued a total bond of $50,000.00 causing him to remain confined at the time of this report.
