Officers filed a report for attempted theft by deception and unlawful possession of a tool to remove theft detection device at approximately 1:06 p.m. on July 22, 2026 in the 400 block of 3rd Place. Burlington was listed as the victim when it was reported a male suspect was using a theft detection removal device in the store to steal merchandise. Carlos Jesus Lima De La Fe was arrested at approximately 2:11 p.m. for attempted theft by deception and unlawful possession of tool to remove theft detection device. Lima De La Fe was issued a total bond of $12,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.
