The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

MANHATTAN, KAN. –

Officers responded to the report of an injury crash near the intersection of Scenic Dr. and Fort Riley Blvd. on October 20, 2020 at approximately 8:37 a.m. When officers arrived on scene they found a 2017 Nissan Maxima driven by Gabriel Ramos, 29, of Manhattan had struck a 2020 Hyundai Genesis driven by Johnny Taylor, 51, of Manhattan from the rear causing Taylor to strike a 2005 Honda Accord driven by Kern Francis, 44, of Manhattan from the rear. Taylor was transported to Via Christi for treatment of his injuries. Ramos was arrested for driving while under the influence. Ramos was issued a total bond of $1,500.00 and is no longer confined at the time of this report.
