Riley County Police have arrested a second suspect in connection to a fraud, theft and forgery investigation in the area.
Saturday’s RCPD arrest report lists 38 total counts against 36-year-old Candace Huffman, who was jailed Friday on a host of probable cause offenses. Included within that are six counts of forgery, four counts of perjury, three counts each of theft by deception, making false information, giving a worthless check and identity theft, two counts of interference with law enforcement and a single count of theft of property.
Eight of the listed counts are connected to a criminal complaint made in December by DeHart Plumbing, in which the company was defrauded out of $13,540, after being presented a fake cashier’s check to pay for services.
Huffman is additionally charged with 10 counts of violating the Kansas Offender Registration Act as well as three aggravated counts thereof. A search of the Kansas Public Offender Registry shows Huffman has past felony convictions for drug distribution in Nemaha and Shawnee counties.
She remains jailed on a $100,000 bond.
Her arrest comes one week after 42-year-old David Lee Huffman, of Ogden was also arrested in connection to the fraud investigation at DeHart Plumbing.
