Playing under the unusual circumstance of Thursday Night Lights, Manhattan High football fended off Lawrence Free State, taking a 38-28 home victory.

It was a regional playoff rematch between the two as Manhattan ended Free State’s season in a defensive slugfest last season, winning 21-7.

Manhattan head coach Joe Schartz said before the game the Firebirds would come out motivated to right their wrongs — and they did.
