      Mitch Fortner call of Will Carpenter’s banked in three for the win

There’s importance to keeping the blood flowing and curbing any panic, especially when you’re team that’s won just one of your first five games. But up seven early on Friday night and down by an equal margin seemingly moments later, Manhattan managed to find its equilibrium in a 60-57 thrilling win at home over Hays.

MHS junior guard Will Carpenter no doubt experienced unsteadiness in the leadup to the Tribe’s sixth contest. Carpenter felt ill and didn’t see the floor much… lest he involuntary see the floor in face-down fashion. Until late – really late – when his insertion led to his running 3-pointer that was banked in from 30-foot range. At the buzzer, no less. Manhattan improved to 2-4 with Carpenter’s heroics.
