News Radio KMAN has invited candidates seeking a seat on the Manhattan City Commission and Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 school board to be interviewed ahead of Election Day.

Frank Beer is running for a seat on the USD 383 school board.

* What motivated you to seek a position on the USD 383 school board?

      Beer Question 1

* What do you see as the biggest hurdle or hurdles for districts right now to overcome ongoing shortages of teachers in the workforce?

      Beer Question 2

* With school budgets being dictated so much by what the state mandates, how will you as a board member, bring about more control at the local level over areas such as property taxes?

      Beer Question 3

* What more can be done for teachers from a board perspective to ensure they feel supported and compensated fairly?

      Beer Question 4

* When it comes to curriculum, there are disagreements and debates over what students are being taught. Some feel political agendas and biases have grayed the area over what’s acceptable in the classroom. Where do you draw the line on educational importance versus whether something ties more to a conservative or liberal political agenda?

      Beer Question 5

* Possible follow up: What should the role of parents be when it comes to these types of conversations?

      Beer Question 6

* The district has for the most part wrapped up its most recent bond projects. Looking ahead, some are going to ask in the next 5 to 10 years, should we have a third middle school, perhaps a second high school. What’s the situation for early learning going to be? What do you see as the district’s most pressing needs from a facilities standpoint over the next decade?

      Beer Question 7

* Anything else I haven’t asked that you would like to say to voters?
