After pulling out a dominating 56-40 win at Lawrence Friday night, the Manhattan Indians will be the seventh-seed when the KSHSAA 6A State Tournament begins this coming Wednesday.
The Indians will meet Blue Valley North (19-3) to begin the tournament at Charles Koch Arena on campus at Wichita State University. Tip time will be 2:00pm.
Manhattan was one of three road teams that pulled off upsets Friday night in 6A West sub-state finals. Junction City clipped Garden City 46-43 and Derby bested Washburn Rural in 4 overtimes to advance.
Junction City will open against the defending champion, Wichita Heights, who drew the top seed with a 20-2 record.

Also qualifying for state tournament play this week were the Riley County girls, who upset Nemaha Central 46-41. The Falcons are the eighth-seed at 16-7 and will take on unbeaten Phillipsburg at 2:00pm on Wednesday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. Phillipsburg is led by K-State signee Taryn Sides who has scored more than 2,000 points in her career.
The Frankfort girls are the number three team on the 1A Division 1 bracket at 20-3 on the season. They’ll take on South Gray at 8:00pm Wednesday night at United Wireless Arena in Dodge City.
