Police have arrested and charged an Ellsworth man for distribution of a controlled substance causing death.

Police arrested Caziah Self, 23, on Wednesday afternoon at approximately noon on a Riley County District Court warrant on the aforementioned charge as well as single counts for using a communication facility in the commission of a felony drug violation and distribution of an opiate less than 10 units.

The apprehension stems from an incident that occurred in June 2023 wherein law enforcement officers investigated the overdose death of a 25-year-old individual in Manhattan, Kansas. Self pled guilty earlier this year to possessing over 2,800 oxycodone pills and was sentenced to over 15 years in prison. In this case, he’s been confined on a bond of $100,000.

The investigation remains ongoing. Any individuals possessing pertinent information are urged to come forward and assist law enforcement authorities.
