Beto Aguilar on Tuesday showed off the interior of a new Aggieville restaurant, Loco Lime. But even at lunchtime, the space was conspicuously empty, which he said highlights the difficulties of running a business in the district.

Aguilar is the kitchen and operations manager for the restaurant, Loco Lime Tacos and Tequila, owned by Xochil Oyervides. It’s at 1116 Moro St., where Gordo’s had previously been. Aguilar said Manhattan has presented unique challenges.

“Oyervides and I have had restaurants in Burlington, Clay Center, among other cities, but Manhattan has been the most financially difficult so far.”
