With districts all across the state cancelling school over the last number of days due to bad weather, administrators in Riley and surrounding counties found themselves having to take action in the middle of school days this week.
USD 323 Superintendent Joan Simoneau had to weigh the decision to cancel classes on Monday as the weather was developing:
Simoneau said the decisions to cancel classes on Tuesday and Wednesday were much easier than on Monday, due to the dangers on the road, significant wind chills, and other currently existing weather factors.
Rob McKim, Superintendent of USD 320, says that when decisions related to the weather need to be made, all the administrators in the area talk and discuss the best course of action:

McKim also noted two basketball games that needed to be rescheduled at the high school level, as well as an elementary and middle school spelling bee.
With students receiving three snow days, Superintendent Simoneau encourages students and families to continue to take educational action while at home:
USD 323, USD 320, and surrounding districts will be back in session this Thursday and weighing outcomes of more potentially bad weather toward the weekend.
