No. 23 Kansas State football will be without one of its top pass catchers for a couple of weeks after an injury sustained in the Wildcats’ 38-9 loss at BYU.
Sophomore tight end Brayden Loftin left the game early after recording a catch for seven yards in Saturday’s loss.
Loftin limped off the field and was attended to by the team’s training staff and did not return to the field for the rest of the game. He was seen later wearing a brace.
“Loftin will be out for a few weeks with a lower body injury,” Klieman said to media on Monday. “It’s not season ending, which is positive, but no, Brayden won’t be playing for a few weeks.”
Loftin, a native of Omaha, Nebraska, has been one of K-State’s most reliable receivers so far this season, turning in seven catches for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
The Wildcat passing game has under performed through four games this season, but the performance of the tight ends have been a highlight, so losing Loftin even for a couple games could be costly.
The Wildcats will lean on senior Will Swanson and sophomore Garrett Oakley, who have bee productive so far, as well as redshirt freshman Will Anciaux, a Wichita native, who reeled the first catch of his career Saturday.
