Officials with the Kansas State University Foundation say donations totaled more than $226.4 million this past year.

The total doesn’t quite match last year’s record total of $235 million in private gifts, but does highlight how strong giving continues to be to the foundation. The value of the university’s long-term investment pool reached $952.3 million as of June 30, the end of the fiscal 2023 calendar. The Foundation says its investment performance has consistently outperformed peer institutions, ranking No. 7 among the nation’s university and college endowments in 2022.

One of the key highlights from the past year saw the university securing $75 million to compete for matching funds from the state of Kansas for K-State’s Ag Innovation Initiative, with the state awarding $25 million in February.

The Foundation started construction on a third office building on Kimball Ave this year, slated for completion next July. A full county-by-county breakdown of giving is listed below.

Other key achievements for the 2023 fiscal year included:

  • Donors established 152 new scholarships to address student need.
  • A $3 million gift helped Cats’ Cupboard build a new food pantry facility.
  • A total of $47.9 million was raised for scholarships and student success overall.
  • Donors gave a record-breaking 11 gifts of $5 million or more, as well as 36 gifts of $1 million or more.
  • The largest-ever outright corporate gift to Kansas State University was secured at $10 million from General Atomics for the Salina campus.
  • The fourth named deanship at Kansas State University, the Eldon Gideon Dean of the College of Agriculture, was established through a $5 million endowed gift.
