Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against SARJ LLC, a Washington-based IT firm that runs 13 adult websites for not having age verification on their webpages.
The lawsuit, which was filed in Shawnee County District Court, says that SARJ has violated a state law that went into effect on Jul. 1, 2024 that requires adult websites to have age verification on their webpages.
A violation of this law would require the company to pay up to $10,000 per day in civil penalties. Similar laws have been passed in Texas, Utah, Mississippi and North Carolina.
