Belmont’s Casey Alexander is set to be hired as the 24th coach of K-State men’s basketball, a source confirmed to The Mercury on Thursday. As of publication, Alexander has verbally agreed to take the job, though nothing is finalized.

The hire wraps up a three and a half week search following the firing of four-year head coach Jerome Tang, who was fired for cause on Feb. 15 for comments made following a loss to Cincinnati earlier that month.

Alexander is in his 15th year as a head coach, and his seventh at Belmont.
