Kansas State University’s College of Agriculture will take the next step in ongoing facilities upgrades with a special ceremony this Friday.
The college will break ground on a new Animal Science Arena that will replace Weber Arena. Dean Ernie Minton says the arena will become the new home of the K-State Rodeo. In addition, the college will have further opportunities to have more youth and other competition events throughout the year.
Minton says the new arena will seat around 3,000 and will have expanded space for different ag-related events.
The project is one of several the university is planning to help update its aging infrastructure. Earlier this year, K-State broke ground on a new Agronomy Research and Innovation Center, being constructed across from Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The next leg of the project will be a new Global Center for Food & Grain Innovation.
The groundbreaking is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. near the Stanley Stout Center.
