A Junction City man is in custody after police say he fled from a crash Saturday in southwest Manhattan.
According to the Riley County Police Department, officers responded around 11:15 a.m. near the intersection of Scenic and Skyway Drive after the driver had fled the scene of the crash and left a 3-year-old child in the car. The driver, 22-year-old Elijah McLeroy, was located later near the Stagg Hill Golf Course later Saturday and ran from officers before being arrested near the old Bubble Wash on old K-18.
Information regarding the child’s condition, wasn’t immediately available.
McLeroy has been charged with interference, aggravated child endangerment, failure to render aid, driving while suspended and no proof of motor vehicle liability.
He remains jailed on a $15,000 bond.
