A city official on Thursday said plans for an $80-million project that includes a mixed-use building with a hotel/parking garage across the street are at a standstill, and the developer may be looking for new ways forward.

Interim city manager Jason Hilgers at the Riley County Commission meeting spoke about the Midtown building planned for the northwest corner of 12th and Laramie streets in Aggieville. Back 9 Development is planning a five-story commercial building, but construction stopped in March 2023 when an investor pulled out.
