After Kansas led through much of the second half, a go-ahead 51-yard field goal by Kansas State senior kicker Chris Tennant soared through the uprights, giving the Wildcats (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) a 29-27 win over Kansas (2-6, 1-4 Big 12), the 16th straight victory for KSU in the series.
It is the narrowest margin of victory in the series since a 10-9 Wildcat victory over KU in 1993.
The Wildcat offense struggled at times, especially in the second half, while the K-State defense held strong late, shutting KU out in the fourth quarter, after struggling to get stops through the first three quarters of the game.
Wildcat quarterback Avery Johnson wasn’t perfect, but he did finish with 253 yards on 19-of-34 passing with two touchdowns. He also ran the ball for 67 yards and another score.
