A former Manhattan firefighter was killed while fighting a house fire in Wichita last week.
Ty Voth, 27, was killed while battling a house fire in the 9800 block of S. Laura Street near Haysville, a suburb south of Wichita last Thursday. Voth, who spent the last five years as a firefighter in Wichita, began his career in Manhattan before graduating from Newton High School in 2015.
Gov. Laura Kelly announced on Thursday that flags would be flown at half-staff on Friday in honor of Voth. A vigil will also be held today in Wichita.
The cause of death has yet to be released at this time.
