Kansas State coach Jerome Tang’s hope of roster retention for the 2025-26 season has hit a significant snag.

The Wildcats won’t return a player with more than nine starts in a K-State uniform next season following the news Monday afternoon that junior point guard Dug McDaniel is leaving Manhattan.

McDaniel is the fifth Wildcat to hit the portal this offseason, and the second, along with shooting guard Brendan Hausen, who was thought to be a major building block for next year’s roster.
