The Country Stampede is facing a possible relocation sometime in the near future.
The festival announced in a Facebook post Thursday that, due to increasing property taxes, it may have to find a new location outside of the state capital.
According to the Country Stampede, their landlord and property owner, Shelby Development, recently stated that Shawnee County has been raising property taxes on the facility by almost $1500 per day and recommended consideration of a new home for the festival.
Country Stampede also noted that their management will soon send out a request for proposal to surrounding communities, including Manhattan, to gauge their interest.
The festival will still take place in 2024. Performing artists will be announced later this fall.
